SUCCESSFUL TIRE TEST CONDUCTED AT WINCHESTER WITH HOOSIER

In an era where uncertainty is prevalent in America, Winchester Speedway wanted assurance that both the quality and quantity of Hoosier Racing Tire was on point for its upcoming events. Recently, a day-long tire test was conducted in cooperation with both parties and the results were outstanding.

The test, which included driver Sammy Smith and his Wilson Motorsports team, were exactly what was needed in advance of the Vore’s King of the Highbanks presented by JEGS on Saturday and September 4 & 5, as well as the Luas Oil Winchester 400 on October 15-17. The upcoming Labor Day Super Late Model show, sanctioned by the ARCA / CRA Super Series, will pay $10,000 to the winner and $750 to start.

“Everybody’s been talking about the tire shortage and fresh tires so we came down here with Sammy to run some laps,” said Irish Saunders of Hoosier Racing Tire. “ He ran 130 laps on a set of tires with no heat issues, no tire wear issues. We’re going to have a really good race down here.

“We’re looking at these premier races and we want to make sure we have plenty of tires for these races. We’ve got a great group and everything’s been really good. We’re going to make sure we have tires and can put on a good show here at Winchester.”

Also on hand for the tire test was Winchester Speedway Promoter Bob Dillner, who is a former Super Late Model car owner, and Wilson Motorsports veteran crew chief Bond Suss.

“Hoosier invited us up to do a reliability test on the compound we run here. It’s the same compound that we’ve run here the past few years. No issues, the track was a little green, so it did show a little wear early, which is to be expected. We still ended up with over 100 laps on the set of tires we had. With 150 laps for the Labor Day race, we should be in good shape to easily get to that last set of rights they’re going to give to us.”
